Hemp Berry Smoothie for Vegan Post-Workouts

Hemp Berry Smoothie Recipe

1 cup frozen mixed berries
1 frozen banana
2 cups loosely packed spinach
1 tablespoon hemp protein
1 tablespoon ground flax
8 drops liquid stevia
1 cup almond milk
1 cup water

Blend all ingredients well. Yield: 3 cups

Hemp is a wonderful plant based protein that is easily absorbable. I’ve recently been reading a book called Thrive written by Brenden Brazier. He has some wonderful recipes that focus on recovery for the athlete. I lift weights and work out most days of the week. Since going plant based, I’ve been looking for a good way to implement more plant protein in my diet and this book is the answer. He refers to the “power” foods which are mostly alkaline foods. He has many great recipes which use hemp and pea proteins. I decided to give hemp protein a try and bought some at a local health food store and began making shakes and smoothies as well as some of the energy bars from Brenden Brazier’s book. I feel like it has helped me recover from hard workouts much quicker without feeling weak, sore and depleted.

Making smoothie is one of my fave hobbies to do every weekend. I find myself that I live a healthy lifestyle. I haven’t tried hemp berries, but thanks for this recipe, I have a reason to do so because I have already a guide how to make and base your review it’s rich in protein which is great. I usually make a veggie smoothie with href=”http://confessionsofacosmetologist.com/2015/02/09/what-is-spirulina/”>spirulina powder toppings. It sounds disgusting because it’s algae, but it’s worth a try. It produces health benefits that you never thought it has. I’m gonna try this hemp berries next weekend.
